Fundraiser: Swedish Social

The Swedish School of Vancouver is having our largest annual fundraiser on Friday January 24th at the Scandinavian Centre. This is a fun event with people from all different Swedish organizations in town, and a great opportunity to introduce your Canadian friends to our Swedish party tricks!

Pubquiz • Toonie Toss • 50:50 Draw • Silent Auction • Swedish Pop & Rock Music • Dancing !!!

Menu: Pulled Pork, Baked Potatoes, Salad, Bread. Coffee, Candy Cane Brownies & Whipped Cream.

Bar open for purchasing of beer, wine and drinks.

FOLLOW THE BUZZ ON FACEBOOK, and participate in our Swedish song competition! Post as many songs as you wish. Advance tickets $20 until January 21st so we can plan. Buy them at the Centre (bring exact change), or by sending your payment by cheque issued to The Swedish School #17-222 East 5th Street, North Vancovuer, BC V7L1L7 Canada, or email to mia.logie at gmail.com. Please include your address so we can send your tickets by mail.

Tickets will be available at the door, but if you want to be assured there is food for you, please buy a ticket in advance.

CHILDMINDING is available BY REQUEST. PLease let us know by January 21st to be guaranteed a spot. The kids will have Fredagsmys! upstairs with an adult supervisor, a movie and goodies.

If you have any items to donate for the fundraising events, please contact Lena Normen-Younger at 604-838-5362 eller lnormen at me.com. You can bring the items with you directly to the evening, but we need to be aware of your donation ahead of time to apply for lottery licenses and print silent auction sheets.

Please don’t drink and drive! Designate a driver, get a cab or use a service like A Safe Alternative Ride, that will drive you, your guests and vehicle home for just a little bit more than a one-way cab ride http://www.asaride.com/about.html (book ahead!).

Like Daniel & Henrik Sedin? Buy t-shirts with their signatures during Swedish Pubnite!

tshirtsTomorrow is the BIG nite, when we aim to raise $2,000 dollars for the annual camp of the Swedish School of Vancouver. It is the second time the Swedish Cultural Society arranges a SWEDISH PUBNITE. This time the event is a partnership between the Swedish Cultural Society, Swedish School and SWEA Vancouver.

We have many people signed up, and will have some fun with a lot of entertainment and actitvities. Among them are a silent auction with a live ending, a 50:50 draw, a toonie toss, a Swedish pub-quiz and then finally, dancing to some Swedish Classics by ABBA,  Roxette and similar.

Babysitting is arranged in the Swedish Room during the evening for kids age 3 and up. Please let us know below or on the circulated evite if you bring your children.

The items that will be auctioned off during  the silent auction are presented below:

  • A hockey stick, signed by former captain of the Canucks, Markus Näslund.
  • Canuck t-shirt, dark blue for men (size large, value $45 for t-shirt) with signature by Daniel Sedin
  • Canuck t-shirt, grey for women (size large, value $55  for t-shirt) with signature by Daniel Sedin
  • STIGA hockey game with Swedish hockey players: Value: $99
  • K5-learning, online tutoring for kids age 5-10 y. Subscription of 3 free months for up to 2 kids for one family. Value $120.
  • Gift basket with spices and Tabasco. Approximate value: $50.
  • Five private yoga classes, for 1-5 people in your home with a registered yoga teacher. No need for props (included in the price). Value: $250
  • Fit flop shoes, model cut colour. Value: $180
  • Mustang Youth Life Jacket, weight 21-40 kg. Value: $50
